I received my FON enabled Linksys WRT54GL WIFI access point/router in the mail a few days ago. I got it all setup within a few minutes of reading the documentation. The router comes PRE-modded with a special version of the open wrt replacement bios.
FON is a Startup project sponsored by Google & Skype. By running a FON enabled AP you also have access to any other FON enabled AP. (as long as you share) There are a number of routers supported by the OpenWrt project. You can check there site for more info. The FON modded bios are available from the FON website also. The router is only $25.00 plus $8.00 shipping (domestic US) It took about 3 weeks to get here from when I ordered it. |
